Roz Avent's Magical Realist paintings explore the images that lurk on the edge of consciousness. All is not what it seems in these works that at first appear to be whimsical or lighthearted illustrations of familiar stories. Animals, people and objects meet in a disquieting world where the sense of stability is fragile; a feeling of tension and darkness pervades the bright childlike images that at first seem so beguiling.Roz also directs Roz Avent Creative Dance, offering classes in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.
